Seventh Annual Art Past Dark Weekend in Fredericksburg FREDERICKSBURG, TX --- The Seventh Annual Art Past Dark weekend unfolds in Fredericksburg from Friday, November 9, through Sunday, November 11, with activities throughout the day and evening for serious art and antique collectors and for those who simply enjoy the arts. Ten art shows, demonstrations by more than a dozen artists, artist receptions at galleries, a screening of “Off to Texas,” special events and the fall antiques show will provide weekend visitors to Fredericksburg with a wide range of artistic events to enjoy. The crown jewel of the weekend is the annual Art Past Dark Gala on Saturday evening, November 10, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at The Hangar Hotel in Fredericksburg. The theme this year is “An Evening in the South Pacific” and includes silent and live art auctions, as well as dancing to the music of the Skylark band. Tickets for the gala are $65 per person. Art Past Dark Weekend Events Whistle Pik Galleries will preview its annual “Christmas Miniature Show” this weekend with the small works of 95 artists, while Fredericksburg Art Gallery will offer the “Contemporary Masters Invitational” Art Show and Sale at the Inn on Barons Creek. The annual Die Künstler Fine Art Show and Sale will feature the works of some 30 local artists, while the Fredericksburg Art Guild will feature demonstrations by local artists at its gallery/studio. Villa Texas will present a show entitled “Lavender Landscapes” ---- works by Central Texas artists who captured the lavender fields of Villa Texas in full bloom, while the Uptown Market Gallery will present new works from Hill Country artists, as well as its fine collection of antiques. Photography 414 Gallery will exhibit the hand colored photographs of Diane Hopkins Hughes, who lives in Greenville, South Carolina. Rodeo Studio Gallery will exhibit original oil paintings by Delia Hunt of Comfort and western bronzes by John Bennett of Fredericksburg. Kairos will present a show on Saturday and Sunday entitled “Six Women Artists,” featuring works in acrylics, fiber arts, oils, print and watercolors. The Q-Hut Show and Sale will be on Saturday at The Hangar Hotel. Artisans at Rocky Hill and the Ben Beckendorf Gallery, both located at the Shops at Rocky Hill east of Fredericksburg on Highway 290, will present artist demonstrations throughout the weekend. Berkman Books will have an open house on Friday evening and Saturday featuring the woks of five artists. On Sunday morning, Sherryl Brown Fine Art will present a screening of “Off to Texas,” an award winning documentary about the lives and works of Hermann Lungkwitz and Richard Petri, German painters who settled in Fredericksburg in the 1840’s and recorded the early history of the Texas Hill Country through their paintings. The 15th Annul Fredericksburg Fall Antiques Show will run on Saturday and Sunday at the Gillespie Fairgrounds with more than 60 vendors.
