Tickets on Sale for Art Past Dark Gala

Tickets for the Art Past Dark Gala, scheduled for Saturday, November 10, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Conference Center and Pacific Showroom at The Hangar Hotel in Fredericksburg, are on sale at The Grasshopper & Wild Honey (997-5012), located at 113 E. Main Street, and at Candlelight (997-0114), located at 241 E. Main Street.

The event is one of the highlights of the Art Past Dark weekend and is sponsored by the Fredericksburg Alliance of Arts & Antiques.

The theme of this year’s gala is “An Evening in the South Pacific.”  Table decorations of tropical flowers are being created by art classes at local schools.

The cost is $65 per person, with tables seating eight.  Attire for the gala is after five dressy or tropical.

Two complimentary drink tickets will be provided for each patron, which may be exchanged for wine, beer or sodas.  A cash bar will be available for mixed drinks.

The evening will begin in the conference center of the hotel with a social hour for meeting many of the artists of Fredericksburg, hors d’oeuvres, drinks and a silent auction of original art work by local and regional artists.  After a live auction of selected art works, guests will be invited to the new South Pacific Showroom of the hotel for “phase two” of the party --- dancing to the music of The Skylarks in an amazing tropical setting.

Part of the proceeds of the evening will help fund art programs for children and youth at schools in Fredericksburg and Gillespie County.  Some $10,000 from last year’s gala was distributed to enrich the visual art programs of local public and private schools and the Boys & Girls Club of Fredericksburg.

Details about the gala and a downloadable complete schedule of Art Past Dark weekend activities are on the web at www.artpastdark.com.
